Vintage Car Show

Monday, June 23rd, 2008

Happening in practically every country, multiple times a year, car shows are something that most people are familiar with. Car shows can either be held by large car manufacturers, like the motor shows, or they can be held by smaller car clubs. A variety of cars are show cased during car shows, but at a vintage car show, the focus is on cars of an older era.

Because one of the main hosts of car shows is the people who make the cars, a typical focus is on the newest models. Because vintage and classic cars draw a more diverse crowd, these types of car shows frequently allow a limited amount of space for them to be put on display as well. For any car buff or lover of history, these restored gems are a delight to observe. Car show origins can be traced back to what was essentially a market of cars for people to purchase. Naturally, this provides a boon to car makers who want to sell their products. These temporary show rooms developed into a competition.

Contests frequently grow out of the smaller car shows. The best restoration is a highly coveted prize for the vintage car shows. For car aficionados this is a big treat as they will be able to see these magnificent cars of the past and also get the chance to meet the people who own and restored them but they can also meet new friends and learn more.

At these competitive car shows, judges must examine the vehicles carefully for any flaw in the restoration. For every car, the examination looks for the following: cleanliness, rust-free, all working parts, original engine parts, the “characteristics” of the original, and its ability to be driven. These local car shows are generally hosted by local car clubs, so if you think you might be interested in joining one, you would always be updated on the local car show events. Vintage car shows and their schedules are great perks to a membership with these clubs, but you can also stand to get a multitude of education about the restoration process from them as well.

Anyone who wants to go to these vintage car shows need simply buy a ticket in order to enjoy the splendor of these magnificent old vehicles. Why, you might ask, do people enjoy vintage car shows so much? The answer is that hard bodied box cars give off a much more interesting aura than many of their current counterparts. These true lovers of cars understand the difficulty it takes in getting these old cars back to their original magnificence, but feel that it is worth it.
